Born in Windsor, Nova Scotia in 1961, David attended Acadia and St. Francis Xavier Universities from which he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music as well as a Diploma in Jazz Studies. He moved to Toronto in 1983 where he studied with numerous professional musicians and began working on the Toronto music scene. In 1984, he co-founded the Shuffle Demons with whom he recorded five discs, numerous videos, performed throughout Europe and Canada at most major Jazz festivals and penned such Demon classics as "Spadina Bus" and "Out of My House Roach". Since leaving the Shuffle Demons in 1995, he has been performing with numerous groups in the Québec City area: Québec Jazz Orchestra, Soldade, Full Tam Tam, The Groove Musik Project as well as leading and recording with his own celtic/cajun group Jig's Up! and his contemporary jazz trio.

Depuis il a quitté les Shuffle Demons en 1995, il joue avec plusieurs groupes dans la région de Québec soit le Québec Jazz Orchestra, Soldade et Amalgame. Comme chef, il a produit un disque avec Jig's Up!, "Gettin' Back to the Roots" (cajun/celtique) ainsi qu'avec le Trio David Parker "The Blue Wall".
