Demon Mike Milligan - bass
Years in the band: 1993 - 1997
In a career that has spanned over twenty-five years, Mike Milligan has played double bass with some of the brightest performers in the jazz and avant-garde world. These performers include internationally recognized musicians such as David Liebman, Chet Baker, Ritchie Beirach, Butch Morris, David Binney, Malcolm Goldstein, Don Thompson, Claude Ranger (winning the semi-finals of the Montreal International Jazz Festivals Jazz Competition 1986 - Ontario region), Holly Cole and Sonny Greenwich. Mike was also the bassist for the "Shuffle Demons" for four years; a group with a large following in Canada and Europe. He was a founding member of "Life on Mars", who, in 1997, won first prize at an international jazz competition at the renown Vienne (France) Jazz Festival. In 1997, he recorded his solo bass Cd "Solo Flights".
Mike has studied double bass with Dave Holland and George Mraz.
Mike is currently a highly sought after bassist in Toronto, and is active on the local scene there. Current projects include his own trio with David Braid (Piano) and Joel Haynes (Drums); A "Miles Davis: Bitches Brew" tribute band; the Solo Bass project and a trio project with Billy Kilson (best known for his work with the Dave Holland Quintet) and guitarist Wayne Eagles.
