HONOURARY SHUFFLE DEMONS:
Demon Victor Bateman - Bass
Victor is an amazing bass player who was our first-call alternate Demon in the early years. He suggested that we play the Hockey Night in Canada theme and came up with the bass line for Cheese on Bread. Check out his great band Vektor and his site www.victorbateman.com.
Demon Rob Frayne - tenor sax
Ottawa native Rob Frayne was our first-call alternate sax Demon in the early years. Rob brought his incredible saxophone fluidity, energy, enthusiasm and humour to the band - he was a great guy to have on the road. He's best known for his work with the great Canadian band Chelsea Bridge.
Demon Tom Walsh - trombone
Tom guested with the Shuffle Demons on a few occasions and as usual
brought his amazing playing, warmth and full on attitude to the band.
He collaborated with Rich in a project called the Walsh/Underhill duo
an adventurous trombone and saxophone project that was voted
finalists in the Alcan Prix du Jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival in
1991. Tom leads two very creative groups N.O.M.A and Phat Hed and
performs also with spoken word group Swifty Lazarus.

Demon Tim Posgate - guitar
Demon Tim joined the Shuffle Demons at the transition period to the
final Quartet formation. In fact he was the first guitar player to
play with the band (don't hate him for that!! :>). He played 1 gig in
Kingston at the Hanger and 1 week with us in Germany on a European
tour. He also presented the demons with our Gold Records for the
Hockey Night in Canada. Tim is an excellent guitarist, composer and
arranger and a heck of a jazz hockey player. You can check out his
music at www.guildwoodrecords.com
Demon Hugh Fraser - trombone
Hugh sat in with us a few times in Vancouver and
brought his amazing trombone playing and great sense of humour with
him. A long time friend of Demon Perry from Vancouver, this
accomplished composer, arranger and performer is the leader for the
amazing VEJI band, the Vancouver Ensemble for Jazz Improvisation.

Demon Campbell Ryga - alto sax
Campbell Ryga is another amazingly talented Vancouverite who has
joined the band for a tune or two when we were on the coast. A
wonderful alto sax player and a great guy, Campbell always brightened
the stage when he joined us. He has several albums under his own
name. Check him out at www.campbellryga.com
Demon Steve Donald - trombone
Steve Donald has had a long and storied career playing the trombone,
and was active in the 80's with new scene bands like Gotham City and
Vektor. Steve has an amazing tone and a great trombone sound that
worked perfectly when he sat in with the demons. He's also incredibly
funny and good to hang out with. He's part of Blue Rodeo's Bushwhack
horns and freelance's in Toronto like crazy.
Demon Craig Hodgeson - tenor sax
Now teaching in Montreal, Craig joined the Demons for
a couple of memorable European tours. A great player with a wonderful
sense of humour, Craig was a positive addition to the band in the
later years.
Demon Barry Elmes - drums
One of Toronto's most creative and well respected
drummers, Barry Elmes joined the demons for a classic street set at
the Eaton Centre April 1985. What a crazy night. Barry is a founding
member of Time Warp, a very influential group that inspired the
Demons. For more info on Barry

Demon Al Henderson - bass
This incredible bassist and composer not only taught Demon Rich at
York University, but also played a few gigs with us during the
release of our Bop Rap album. Al is an inspirational, forceful
player, infused with the spirit of Charles Mingus and is also a
co-founder of Time Warp.
